When in doubt, buy

I saw that verse a few years ago when I was in the UK at a shopping district. It was printed in a big eye catching font and placed at a very strategic location. I have been using this for a few years now. As with everything and anything in life, it has its own good and bad points.

Let's start with the bad. With this verse constantly replaying in your head, you will be tempted to buy anything you set your eyes at. This is good if you have a bottomless pit of cash in your bank account. This can seriously make you go bankrupt or be in a lot of debt. Like everything in life, moderation is the best way to go.

The good thing is whenever you are in doubt means you really want the item but cannot decide if it was worth it to get. Mostly at this stage you will be weighing the pros and cons and getting more confused and frustrated. This is where the verse comes in. It is better to buy when you are in doubt and thinking about it day and night than not getting it and regret it when you don't see the item anymore on the shelf. This is even more frustrating if it is a limited item and online store prices are ridiculously expensive.

I have had that experience before. I wanted something and was thinking and pondering if I should get it or not. After thinking about it a few weeks, I decided I should get the item. Took the cash, went to the shop to get the item just to find out that someone else beat me to it. I was devastated and so sad that I let the item slip through my fingers.

Now where am I going with this post? I'm getting to that. A few weeks ago I decided to stop buying plamo (plastic models) and start saving cash for rainy days and for my dream bike. This worked out fine until 2 days ago. I suddenly had the feeling to go and buy a kit. Any kit will do. That was when I went online to do research on Zoids Pteras Bomber Jamie Custom. After looking and reading through the reviews of the Pteras Bomber, I decided the kit outlook doesn't call out to me. So I went looking around and the Great Saber caught my attention.

That was when I saw Robot Masters has the MG Sazabi effect parts in stock. I was going to get the effect parts since the announcement so I decided if I'm going there to get the effect parts, I might as well pick up another kit. I called Robot Masters to enquire about the price of the RG Red Frame but it was too expensive compared to other shops even with the 15% members discount. I asked around and found a shop which sells the RG Red Frame at the lowest price.

I asked them if they have any zoids kits in stock and they told me they have the Liger Zero Panzer in stock. I did some research and image scouting and the Liger also caught my interest. After about a day of research, I messaged the shop and reserved both the Liger and Red Frame. When I went there to pick up the kits, I saw that they still have the HG Kamiki Burning Gundam in stock so I added that into the pile as well.

While all this was happening, my parcel from Gundoom arrived. It was sent to a colleagues place and since he missed the parcel, I told him to pass me the card and I will collect it myself when I am free. Instead of passing me the card, he went into the trouble to go the delivery center and pick up the parcel for me.

The next day I called another shop to enquire if they still have the Great Saber in stock and told them to reserve the kit for me. I went to the shop and pick up the kit along with the Tamiya Dark Brown panel line accent. On the way home, I dropped by my colleagues house to collect my parcel before heading home.

I recently have been hooked to Zoids kits. I have not built them before but I guess this interest came from 4 reasons. 1) Zoids kits are harder to restock. Once they are sold, they seldom come back in stock. 2) I love animals and dinosaurs. 3) I love animals and dinosaurs with weapons on them. It reminds me of a cartoon I love very much in the 80's called Dino Riders. 4) There are no new Gundam release which I'm interested in.

I know this is a long post and is more of ranting. I just opened the parcel and found 3 kits in there. I thought that he was only going to send 2 kits. I guess the third kit arrived before he sent me the parcel. At least I saved on shipping. The kits in the parcel is 1) Machinicore rx-104, 2) Dragon Momoko Akatsuki and 3) 1/100 YAMS-130B Griefer.

So all in all, this is my loot in 2 days after thinking of not getting more plamos.

Loot for the month

I guess this is what people call rebound.
