RG Exia - WIP 3

The Fantastic Four

Mentioned in the previous post, the waist and the chest are next. Original plan was to do both the waist and chest in different post but when I looked through the manual, I found it pointless to do them separately.

With all the nubs removed, the next stage is to assemble the inner frame.

Top 3: Chest inner frame
Bottom 3: Waist inner frame

The first inner frame tackled is the chest. With just 3 pieces the inner frame is done in a blink of the eye.

Next is the waist but before any assemble can be done, the first thing to do it to rotate the joints for the front and back skirt.

How the waist piece looks like after of the joints for the front and back skirt has been rotated

With the pegs for the skirts rotated, the next step is to attach the other pieces of the inner frame. In order to do that, we will have to bring out the completed chest inner frame. The next step will have you attach both the waist and the chest together.

With the completion of the inner frame, my favourite part is next: panel lining. This is the first time I'm using all 4 of the Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color for one section.

Left to right: Gray, Brown, Dark Brown and Black

Gray is used for white armor parts, Brown for the yellow, Dark Brown for red and finally Black for inner frame and gray parts. If any of you are having doubts about this product, the only thing I can say is get it. You won't regret it and one bottle can last a very long time.

Panel lined the armors for the body.

When the panel line solution is dry, they are wiped away with Zippo lighter liquid and decals are placed. There are no photos to show this process. I can't remember if I took photos after the cleaning and decaling process because I can't seem to find it anywhere.

With the body section completed, there are only 2 more sections left before putting together the inner frames for the RG Exia.
