All Well That Ends Well
Finally got the right mindset to tackle the unfortunate broken v-fin after a brief break working on the D-Style Shield Liger. First thought that came to mind was to use Mr.Hobby Mr.Cement S.
The original plan was to cement the v-fin onto the red piece then attach it to the helmet. It was a messy process as the red piece was so small and when I managed to place the fin on the correct spot, the red piece would be stuck to my finger and mess up the position of the fin.
Came up with the idea to attach the red piece onto the helmet first before cementing the fins in place
It was a very messy and frustrating process. The fins had a very specific location to attach to the red part. Did the left part first and when it had dried, cemented the other side and left it for a few hours to dry and cure. As can be seen from the photos above, the cement melted the red paint and it was all over the helmet and fin
Once the cement was cured, painted over the red spots with the replenished Mr.Base White 1000. The result turns out better than expected. Might try using it again for the next project and hopefully not a repeated disaster for the leg armor
Painted the yellow to cover up the spilled red paint. When the yellow paint has dried, can't really see the part of the v-fin which was broken unless you know where to look. Quite happy with the end result
Now that the head issue has been rectified, it is now time to put the parts together to complete the kit.
All parts waiting for the final assembly
Started from the leg and waist...
Followed by the chest...
Then the arms...
And finally the head
[Action Pose]
The fire effect parts
There is also the fire fist effect parts which can be used with the fire wheel. Personally did not like this combination as it makes the kit looks too messy but the photos came out nicer than expected
To conclude this review, below is a list of all the pros and cons and the conclusion of what I think about this kit according to my personal experience.
Pros:
+ Lots of effect parts for dynamic poses
+ Simple and fun kit
+ Suitable for those who are dipping their toes into the hobby
+ Most parts are molded in their correct color
Cons:
- Shoulder armor easily pops off when posing
- Too many effect parts which makes the model look messy
- Some of the effect parts like for the feet will require the stand
Conclusions:
This kit is a blast to build and pose with as it has the additional effect parts. The number of poses are limited only to the imagination. All the poses are from the box art and manual as I am not good with poses and also afraid to scratch the paint work. This kit has good articulation as well and most of the parts are molded in the correct color. This kit will also look good for straight build and beginners to the hobby. Just need a bit of work for panel lining and for the katana.
Mentioned in the beginning of this build, this kit is to try my hand for brush brushing. Managed to brush paint most of the kit except for the white which was a bust. Brush painting bigger sections like MG kits requires more time and my painting method might not be so suitable. Nevertheless I thoroughly enjoyed the painting process once I got the hang of it and I am most happy with how the kit comes together considering this is the first time brush painting.
