PG Astray Red Frame - WIP 3

Impossible task ahead

 

From this post on I decided to split the title to PG Astray Red Frame and PG Astray Blue Frame as opposed to PG Astrays. This might seem redundant because both kits are PG Astray Red Frame but in the long run it will make an easier reference.

Mentioned in the previous post, the other RF has arrived. I'm thinking of building both RFs together meaning I will be building double of everything. I might be crazy but I think this is the way to go for this project. Besides, I need to clear space before the Mechanicore Deepstriker arrives later this year. With that being said, I will need lots more paints and time to complete the kits.

Plus side to this craziness is I will have to stop this project sooner or later to replenish my paint stocks or to prevent burnt out from working on 2 pg kits simultaneously. When I stop, I can do other smaller kits to clear even more space. Another plus side is I can do a direct comparison between the BanDai and Daban RF. This is like killing 3 birds with one stone.

Mechanicore 1/100 MAS-14 Omega - Update

New update

Mentioned in the previous post, I got some update regarding this kit. This is not a major update but it is an important one to those who are still thinking about getting this kit and display space. What I have now with me is the actual dimension/size of the completed model. What I can say is this will be a bigger kit than the MAS-15.

PG Astrays - WIP 2

Unsteady pilots

Mentioned in the next kit post few weeks back, I have decided to get a 2nd PG Red Frame just for the accessory (mainly the Gerbera Straight). The kit has finally arrived and I'm more excited than ever because now my RF is able to carry 2 sheath instead of one. For now I'm still pondering on what frame to paint the other RF to. Blue, Green, Gold? Blue would be more suitable because the 2nd RF kit comes with a free 1/60 TA. While thinking about a new color scheme, I decided to paint the pilot figures first before embarking on the MS.

 

Why did I choose to paint the pilot first? I decided to join a Pilot Painting Contest hosted by DC23. The prizes are attractive. GreatToysOnline.com will be shipping a couple of Gundam Metallic Nano Puzzles, myhmshop.com will be shipping a HM135 0.3 nozzle airbrush and Don himself will be shipping a set of Vallejo Acrylic Paints.

Gundam Model Kit Contest 2015

It's that time of the year again. The time for the Gundam Model Kit Contest. As usual, there will be 3 main categories for participants which open, youth and junior. Dateline is 11 May 2015 and you can enter any scale of gunpla. There is a size restriction for those who are modding their kits. 

First time I knew about the contest, I was planning to enter the PG RF but after some putting some thoughts in it, I know I won't finish kit in time. I can always rush the kit but it won't look so nice and it also means I cannot be building 2 PG kits together.  Anyways, those who are interested in joining the contest can download the forms here.

Mechanicore 1/100 MAS-14 Omega

I know fans from all over the world are waiting for years for this kit to be released by BanDai. Fear not for Mechanicore has come to the rescue. Following the success of the MAS-15, Mechanicore is going to make the MAS-14 Omega or widely known as the Penelope.  It is now open for pre-order.

 

Below are some prototype photos of the Omega. A list of all the bonus parts will be stated at the bottom. As with the MAS-15, it has a limited release of 2200 pieces. So for those who are interested in this kit, I would advice you to quickly make your pre-order before you miss the chance.

1/28 RX-178 Gundam Mk-II

Recently someone posted this on facebook and my friend shared it on my facebook page. This is a Prime Series: PO1 1/28 RX-178 Gundam Mk-II (Garage Kit). It is a full resin model kit by GeaknFreak toys, that was showcased and sold at C3 x Hobby 2014. The model designed was inspired by RG 1/144 Gundam mk. II. I know a lot of people are willing to pay to own this kit and I can't imagine how much this is going to cost if they are selling it to public.

Today after coming home from a long day out, my other half found a slightly cracked bird egg in the garden. There was blood on the floor and we assumed the chick in the egg did not survive the attack. Threw the egg in the compost and went about doing our own things.

 

About an hour later, my other half called me and told me that the chick could still be alive after doing some research on google. First we have to seal the little crack on the top of the egg with wax. After that, we were hoping that we are able to find the nest so we can safely return the egg but no avail. Next best thing is to build an incubator. What do you need for a quick and simple incubator?

Mentioned some post back that I have this urge to start building this particular kit. I also mentioned that 'I have all the necessary materials ready. There is this one particular accessory which I'm thinking whether I should get. If yes means I have to get another kit but the kit can be painted in another color scheme. Still undecided if it looks nicer with one or two. One thing I can say it that this will be a big kit'.

Starting this post with the transformation from the core fighter to core block. Here are the step-by-step guide to transforming the core fighter:

1. Prepare the core fighter

 

2. Remove the landing gears and push in the nose

RG RX 78-2 - WIP 6

Change for a better future
 

Continuing this kit after taking a break from all the bad luck this kit has currently presented me. Been working on the SD Epyon by Silver Castle. It has its own flaws but not as bad as tiny missing / hiding pieces. Before continuing with the kit, I bought some files from Daiso for MYR 5. It comes in a set of 3 and will be trying filing as opposed to using hobby knife to remove the nubs.

BATMAN vs DARTH VADER (Alternate Ending)

There's always an alternate ending

 

Remember the showdown between Batman and Darth Vader which was featured in this blog in December? If you saw the video, you would know who was the victor. If you haven't watched it, I would suggest you to watch it first before watching the alternate ending video. You can watch the original video here.

 

I think the guys from Bat in the Sun created an alternate ending to the video for the Batman fans and also the results of the votes are very close. Since I'm a fan of both Batman and Darth Vader, I'm happy with both ending.

 

Next kit

A little quiz

 

I have decided on my next kit (after completing the Granddaddy). Recently I have this urge to build this particular kit. I think I have all the necessary materials ready and have put it aside for far too long now. There is this one particular accessory which I'm thinking whether I should get or not. If yes means I have to get another kit but the kit can be painted in another color scheme. Still undecided if it looks nicer with one or two but I guess that choice can wait till I'm nearer to building that particular section.

 

One thing I can say it that this will be a big kit and it will take some time to complete. I can forsee that I might have to stop this project halfway because of insufficient materials. If that were to happen, it will give me a good time to take a break and do some relaxing kit like what I did with the RG RX 78-2 and SD Epyon.

 

Any idea on what I'm going to build next?

Update (07/03/15):

I have decided to get the other kit just for the accessory. Hopefully the kit will arrive before I start working on this project. With the purchase of the other kit, I have a new set of questions to answer. Didn't expect to rack my brains for answers when building gunpla. To me the fun of gunpla is not only building it but also to see what you can do with it be it modifying or changing color scheme.

Before starting out on the final review, just to inform that I will be doing something different for this post. There will be a list of pros and cons for this kit and a conclusion at the end. Just thought of trying new things to spice up the blog. Do leave comments on what you think about this.

 

Seen on the side box in WIP 1 an action base is included with this kit. Before transforming Epyon to its alternate form, I decided to take a look at the display first. The base consist of 7 parts. The base, 3 effect parts, 2 different holders and the stand.
