Eggplane YF-19 - WIP 2

Major round of hand painting

With all the spray painted parts dry, the work for hand painting can finally start. Before getting the paints out, there is one major thing which needs to be done first: Gluing of the gun.

Guns in 2 separate pieces

Two types of cements will be used: Tamiya Cement and Mr. Cement S.

Tamiya cement (Left) and Mr Cement S (Right)

Why use both and what are the differences? For an easier explanation, a video will be attached explaining the differences between the 2 cement types.

Video is from Youtube. Click here if the video is unable to load

While waiting for the cement to dry, the first color to paint is the Mr. Hobby 13 Mr. Color Neutral Grey.

The first thing to do is to sort out all the pieces which needs to be painted.

Parts after painting

The next paint when the Neutral Grey is dry is Mr Hobby 28 Mr. Color Steel.

Parts before and after the paint job

This color did not turn out like as expected. I was thinking it would be a brighter color like chrome because of the final product photos on the net. It turned out a darker than expected but I can live with it. At least it gives me a new color for other kits.

When the paint has fully cured, a test fit on how the Fold Booster will look like when fully assembled.

Next up is the Mr. Hobby GX 208 Mr. Metallic Color GX GX Rough Silver.

This color is a little hard to use. I tried to use my usual method of thinning the paint but when I painted it on a part, nothing can be seen clearly. The only way to overcome this is to make the paint thicker.

The first part to paint silver is the nozzle on the gun.

The next part is the background for the clear red part...

...and some other little details on the plane.

There is also one piece which I painted silver but which was not in the manual.

The turbines for the plane

The third color to be used is Mr. Hobby UG09 Zeon's MS Gray.

Parts before (left) and after (right) the paint job

The parts are then panel lined when the paint is dry. More parts to be painted in the next post.
