Decool 7112 The Bat Fighter - WIP 1

 Batwing? Bat Fighter? I'm confused

Since 200% of  my time are taken up by work (actual work and housework) and don't really have the time to spend building Gundams, I will have to put my current project on hold and build something which isn't so time consuming. I have 2 3rd party brick building set in my backlog and decided to start with this:

I got this awhile back but always forgetting about it when I am looking for new kits to build. Discovered this one day when my dad wanted to give a gift to his god-son as a birthday present. This is actually from the Lego set 7782 The Batwing: The Joker's Aerial Assault minus the Joker's henchman and helicopter.

I am assuming this is the same batwing which was shown in the 1988 Batman movie where Batman uses it to cut the balloons from Joker. The design does look similar and not to mention the bat logo in the yellow circle.

Video is from YouTube. Click here if the video is unable to load

At the bottom right corner in front of the box, there is a complete Batwing with dimensions on how big the set will be. This is useful for those who wants to prepare a casing for it or to find space for display or maybe both.

The bottom left shows the mini figures which comes together with this set.

Batman and Joker mini figures included with this set

At the back of the box shows the completed Batwing with 3 little individual boxes showing the gimmicks of the set.

Back of the box

Left: The front and back portion of the wing can be split
Right: There are flaps on the Batwing which can be moved up and down

Left: There is a hidden cannon at the back of the Batwing which can pop up
Right: The cockpit canopy can be open to let Batsy in and out of the Batwing

The sides of the box just shows a small picture of the Batwing on one side and the Justice League members on the other.

The box opens from the side. From the opened box, there is another smaller box which have to be pulled out.

Packaging can be seen while the box is being pulled out

All the pieces of the set neatly packaged like Lego. The only thing different is that the packages are not labeled like in Lego.

There are a total of 7 packages, 1 instruction manual and a 12x12 base.

The instruction manual has the same art as the box except for the mini figures.

The instruction starts with the mini figures and the base of the Batwing.

The instruction stops at step 19...

...starts a new subsection...

...which is attached to the left side of Batwing.

It is repeated...

...for the right side of the Batwing.

The instruction continues until step 23 which is the completed Batwing.

After the Batwing are the construction of the hangar.

The final step is to place the Batwing on the hangar and is it ready for display.

The back of the instructions shows all the Super Heroes set which has been released by Decool. I'm interested in the Green Lantern plane and the Spiderman helicopter set.

I did not follow the manual to start with the Batwing. Instead, I started with the hangar. That way if I have to stop building the Batwing, it will look like as though Batman is still in progress building the Batwing.

The hangar starts with the 12x12 base

A couple of steps later, the base is completed. The next phase are the hangars.

A couple more steps later the entire hangar is ready and waiting for Batsy to start work on the Batwing.

Before Batman can work on the Batwing, Batman will have to be assembled first.

There are 2 different faces for both Joker and Batman. Joker's face on the left reminds me of Jack Nicholson's Joker

Complete assembly of the mini figures. Batman comes with 3 batarangs and Joker comes with his signature Joker playing card.

From the manual, the Batwing starts with 4x6 pegs piece, a rectangular piece and 2xprotruding pieces.

A few more steps into the future, the base of the Batwing is almost completed.

That is all for this post. There are a couple more steps to go to complete the base of the Batwing which will be covered in the next post together with more WIPs.
