Sabertrio Skylar FX Lightsaber - New Upgrade

Third time's a charm

About a month or so ago Sabertrio contacted me to inform that I need to send  Skylar back for a new chassis which is made from delrin. The old chassis was 3d printed ABS where they had to sand down the chassis to make it smoother to slide out but the end result was not pleasing to the eye. Another issue with the 3D printed chassis is because it was a pain in the neck to remove and more pain in the neck to slide back in.

During the one month plus of absence, I felt like something was missing. I was beginning to miss Skylar even though I did not use it a lot. I was attached to Skylar maybe because it is my first saber.

3rd Arrival

The arrival of the Skylar for the third time comes not in a shoebox but in an actual box with the Sabertrio logo at either side. I am assuming they have this box made specifically for those purchases where only the hilt are being purchased.

Upon opening the box there are writings on either side of the flaps:

The writing on the right side of the flap is in Aurebesh. If you want to know what it says, here's the code for you to decipher:

Do note that at the time of writing, there are two mistakes in the above symbol but it is not that hard to figure out. A free candy will be given to those who manage to decipher and point out the mistake.

If one is not sure which way is the right side up, Sabertrio got that covered. There is a small warning that says "This box is upside down".

If you do not heed the warning and still insist on opening the wrong way, there is an ester egg waiting at either flaps:

As usual, the saber is protected and wrapped in a few layers of bubble wrap.

Let me present to you the new Delrin chassis which is more durable, looks so much more professionally made and it slips and slides smoother.

They also have a 'Warranty is void' sticker which is placed over the soundcard.

As promised, Sabertrio included 2 nos of M4 hex screws to replace the covertech wheel if and when I decide not to use it.

The M4 hex screws uses the smaller Allen key which was provided with the saber

To replace the Covertech wheel, you will need to use both the Allen keys. The bigger one is to remove the wheel and the smaller one it for the M4 hex screws. Just make sure you don't screw in the M4 screws too deep else you will have a problem of sliding the chassis out. For me, I prefer the flushed look without the wheel.

Difference between with and without the Covertech wheel.

This post is about the minor upgrades done on Skylar. Curious to know how is the built and how the saber handle? Please click here to read about the review of Skylar
