SD RX 78-2 - WIP 1

 New Year, New Kit

Would like to wish everyone out there a very Happy New Year!!

As this is a new year, decided to start a new kit. This is an older kit which was released in 2009. Started on this kit as it has large parts and wanted to try the Pearl White paint after reading online how to effectively use it. Another reason is to let the frustration of working on the Z-Knight build die down before rebooting the build.

The last granddaddy kit built was the RG back in 2015. The plan is to display all the different sizes of the RX 78-2 kits together from 1/48 down to SD to show the various sizes difference. I don't remember if I have the MG kit in the backlog but will cross that bridge when I get it to.

According to the manual, there are only 9 steps to complete the build

The shield is molded in the wrong color. This will be the most paint job required for the kit. The weapons and backpack will mostly be painted in metal black used for Z-Knight

Surprisingly this kit comes with both type of stickers

The plan was to only paint the backpack, beam rifle, beam saber and shield as those came in the wrong color. The white will be sprayed a few layers of the pearl white and see how it turns out as that is also used for the PG Astray Blue Frame but did not have the expected result.
