HG Kamiki Burning Gundam - WIP 3

Here I come to save the day!

Started with painting works for the feet in the last post. With what happened, I made sure to check the paint before use and had the correct thinner at hand.

Red paint used is Mr. Hobby Mr. Color 158 Gloss Super Italian Red

Grey paint used for armor is Gaia Base Color 074 Gloss Neutral Grey IV

Parts of the red and inner frame of the feet. Luckily I have enough clips for all the parts for both sides of the feet. Parts are waiting to dry to see if they require a second coat but only one coat is sufficed

I did not use any type of palette for painting. All I used is an old used metal cap from an industrial thinner which can be seen in the top picture next to the red paint. That is where I pour a bit of thinner onto it and use the paint from the cap after shaking it. When the paint on the cap starts to dry out, simply close the paint, give it another shake and you are good to go. This might not be the correct method but it works for me.

Here are the steps for my painting method:

1 - Dib the brush on the paint cover to load it
2 - Lightly dib the brush into the thinner
3 - Paint on to the parts
4 - If the paint is too thick, load the brush with more thinner
5 - If the paint is too thin, load the brush with more paint
6 - Rinse and repeat until painting are completed
7 - Leave to dry preferably overnight then a layer of Future for gloss coat

Once all are dry back into their respective boxes until it is time for another round of detail painting like the black color for the feet and shoulder and plan to paint silver under the parts which will have the clear blue parts to make it pop (hopefully).

Parts for the left and right hand, inner frame and armor waiting to dry

Decided to tackle the katana next while waiting for the paint to dry as it only has 4 parts and does not require any clips while drying. The katana comes molded in white and the sheath in black

Consulted the manual on the color for the katana

Painted the sheath and the grip the same as the inner frame: Gaia Base Color 074 Gloss Neutral Grey IV

The blue color for the waist is Mr.Color Gundam Color UG 13 A.E.U.G.'s MS Blue but the paint has dried up like the red and neutral grey IV

Did a bit of research online and found that Mr. Hobby has a Replenishing Agent T-115 to revive the dried-up paint. 'This product is a replenishing agent for restoring Mr.Color that has higher viscosity or is dried in a bottle. Since coating resin that is not included in the Mr.Color thinner is included, the original performance of paint is restored.' - From Mr.Hobby website

Here's a video from YouTube which shows Mr. Color Replenisher in action. Click here if the video is unable to load

Painted the blue parts after the paint has been revived

I foresee that there will be a lot of use for the Replenishing Agent as most of the paint has dried-up. The next post will be reviving the yellow for V-fin and metal colors gold and silver for the chest vents and parts of the katana.
