D-Style Shield Liger - WIP 3

It's Not Van Helsing, It's Van Flyheight

Having completed all the paint work for the Shield Liger armor it time to turn the attention to the cockpit.

Did a quick assembly to see how the cockpit will be with the pilot and noticed that there 2 control sticks on either side of the seat. Tried the steel color which will be used for the mechanical parts of the Liger. This will make the control stick stick out and show that it is a mechanical part and not part of the armor.

Felt the display in the Liger is on the boring side so decided to spice it up with the leftover stickers from the Kamiki Burning Gundam and the RG GP 01 Zephyranthes. Cut small pieces of the metallic stickers and eyeballed the location on both sides of the display.

The display with metallic stickers but they are not very visible. Maybe I should have painted the display black before placing the stickers so they are more visible

Was trying to figure the color for the seat. I did a bit of research and found out that the seats are blue in the series and that would blend in with the armor parts. I needed a contrasting color and went with red instead.

Used Gundam Marker GM07 Red for the seat

This is the first time the Gundam Marker will be used and was afraid that the paint might have dried up. Gave it a vigorous shake for about 3 minutes and pumped the paint into the tip. Had to do it a few times and was relieved that started to see red.

The red is a nice contrast to the blue armor but most of the seat will be covered when the pilot is in the cockpit. The red has a posh feeling to it like driving a luxury vehicle

With most of the painting done, it is now time to turn our attention to the star of the show, Mr. Van Helsing Flyheight.

This is the only image of Van which is colored. Other images of him in the manual and on the box are unpainted

As there are not a lot of color guide to go with, I did a bit more research and there are 2 'uniforms' which he wore (excluding the one when he was a kid):

These are different from the color scheme shown on the box. I was supposed to follow the image on the right but must have been tired or something and ended up combining the one from the box and the image on the right.

Painted figure of Van Flyheight. Maybe I should not have used the black ink on his mouth as it gives him the shocked impression. Maybe he was shocked at his new uniform

All the markers and paint used for Van

With the cockpit and pilot figure completed, I can safely put the armor pieces aside for safe keeping and proceed with the mechanical parts of the Liger in the next posting.
